Military forces in Ho Chi Minh City endure scorching heat to prepare for 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s reunification
Military forces join a training session in Ho Chi Minh City on March 21, 2025 for the upcoming 50th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and National Reunification Day (April 30).

Under the searing sun, military forces in Ho Chi Minh City have been pushing their limits to perfect their performances during parade rehearsals over the past few days in preparation for the upcoming 50th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and National Reunification Day (April 30).

Nearly 1,000 soldiers across seven military units were engaged in a large-scale training session at the Zone 7 Military School in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City on March 21.

Every Tuesday and Friday, these units are gathering to practice formations and make adjustments.

The parade rehearsals feature both standing and marching units, with four standing groups, including the military band, male coast guard, male militia, and female militia.

The marching units include army, female special forces, and female guerrillas.

The live footage of these rehearsals is transmitted to the National Military Training Center No. 4 in Hanoi, where the parade subcommittee for the 50th anniversary of the country’s reunification can observe and provide feedback.

The sweltering heat of recent days in the southern metropolis has made the military forces’ training even more grueling.

Despite the physical challenges, the determination of the troops is stronger than ever.

Under the scorching sun for over three hours, some of the female soldiers had to seek medical assistance.

However, after receiving care, they quickly returned to their positions, determined not to let personal setbacks affect the overall performance of the team.

The military parade and procession celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and National Reunification Day will take place on the morning of April 30, along Le Duan Street in District 1.

The celebration will include a salute from the air force, helicopters performing the flag-raising ceremony, and fighter jet squadrons participating in an air show in the sky above the city.

In addition, a 21-gun salute will be fired at Bach Dang Wharf, marking the historic event.
