MANILA – The Philippines takes on Indonesia in the Alas Pilipinas Invitationals starting Tuesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Alas Pilipinas meets Indonesia club Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi at 7:30 p.m. after the match between Hyundai Capital Skywalkers of South Korea and Thailand's national team at 4 p.m.

On Wednesday, Thailand will face Jakarta at 4 p.m. and Alas Pilipinas will battle Hyundai at 7:30 p.m.; while Thursday's matches pit Jakarta against Hyundai at 4 p.m. and Alas Pilipinas against Thailand at 7:30 p.m.

The four-day Invitationals will gauge the competitiveness of Alas Pilipinas for the 32-nation FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship (MWCH) which the Philippines will host on Sept. 12 to 28 at Araneta and Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

"This (Invitationals) is important for us. It's very good for us to compete against better teams. We have to be prepared for the men's worlds," Alas Pilipinas coach Angiolino Frigoni said during Monday's press conference in Cubao, QC.

"I would like to thank the three teams for accepting the invitation to play in the Alas Pilipinas Invitationals, which is a test for our national players," Philippine National Volleyball Federation president Ramon Suzara said. (PNA)
