MANILA – The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) and the Civil Relations Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will stage a musical play dubbed "Musikalayaan 2025" at the Rizal Park Open-Air Auditorium in Manila on Thursday.

The event is part of the celebration of the country's 127th Independence Day.

The AFP's will hold the event through its Media and Civil Affairs Group (MCAG) headed by Col. Francel Margareth Padilla, who is also the military's spokesperson.

Themed “Pagtatanghal para sa Karagatan ng Pilipinas: Our Seas, Our Rights, Our Future,” the play aims to promote national consciousness on the importance of safeguarding the West Philippine Sea and asserting the country’s sovereign maritime rights.

“This musical theatre play will serve as an avenue for defense agencies to enjoin the public to be proud of a nation blessed with a history of valor and gallantry,” Padilla said.

She also expressed hope that through music, Filipinos will be inspired to value national sovereignty and maritime heritage.

The play will feature musical and dance performances by men and women in uniform, including personnel from the Philippine Army, Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and the Philippine Coast Guard. Also performing are the Philippine Army Marching Band and the Indayaw Dance Company from Signal Village National High School, Taguig City and along with artist reservists of the AFP.

Admission is free to the event, which would also be aired live via DWDD 1134 kHz AFP Radio, allowing more Filipinos across the country to take part in the patriotic festivities. (PNA)
