Osaka, July 13 (Jiji Press)--General visitors to the World Exposition in the western Japan city of Osaka are expected to exceed 10 million within Sunday, which marks three months since the six-month event started April 13.
As the number of visitors tends to surge when popular events, such as fireworks, are held, more people may come during the upcoming summer vacation season as well as in the late stages of the Expo.
The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition is working harder to reach its target of 22 million visitors, the break-even point in terms of operating costs for the Osaka Expo.
On Saturday, many people visited the Expo site to watch the Air Self-Defense Force's Blue Impulse aerobatic team's performance. The Blue Impulse performance was originally scheduled for the opening day of the Expo but was canceled due to bad weather.
As of Friday, the highest daily number of visitors was 185,000, recorded on June 28, when a fireworks event was held.
