Iwaya, Wang Confirm Promotion of Mutually Beneficial Ties

Kuala Lumpur, July 10 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya and his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, confirmed Thursday that they will promote a mutually beneficial strategic relationship between their countries.
During their meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Iwaya expressed strong concern over China's curbs on rare earth exports and intrusions into Japanese airspace near the Senkaku Islands in Okinawa Prefecture, southernmost Japan. The islands in the East China Sea are claimed by China.
The Asian neighbors' top diplomats met for the first time since their talks in Tokyo in March. They are visiting the Malaysian capital to attend meetings related to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
