Japan Coincident Economic Index Down for 1st Time in 3 Months

Tokyo, Jan. 10 (Jiji Press)--Japan's composite index of coincident economic indicators declined for the first time in three months in November 2024, the Cabinet Office said Friday.
The coincident index, showing current economic conditions, fell 1.5 points from the previous month to 115.3 against 100 for the base year of 2020, the government agency said in a preliminary report.
The result partly stemmed from a production halt for some vehicle models of Daihatsu Motor Co., which became unable to meet new safety standard requiring that vehicles be equipped with rear-view monitors.
The Cabinet Office left unchanged its assessment that the index is "halting to fall."
Of the eight component indicators available in the preliminary report, six contributed to the index's drop.
