Vietnamese Party General Secretary To Lam, Cambodian People's Party President Hun Sen pledge stronger Vietnam-Cambodia ties

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam held phone talks on Thursday with Cambodian People's Party President Hun Sen to discuss ways to further strengthen relations between the two Parties and their countries.

The two leaders exchanged updates on developments within their parties and governments, shared views on regional and global issues, and reviewed recent cooperation efforts, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

They agreed to deepen bilateral ties through both Party and state channels by reinforcing political trust, enhancing exchanges at all levels, and making full use of existing mechanisms and high-level agreements.

Both sides were also committed to more timely information sharing and regular consultations on matters of mutual concern to ensure more practical and mutually beneficial collaboration.

General Secretary To Lam congratulated Cambodia on its recent socio-economic progress under the leadership of the Cambodian People's Party and the Royal Government of Cambodia, noting improved living conditions for the population.

He also welcomed the positive steps taken in Cambodia's ongoing border discussions with Thailand.

Hun Sen thanked the Vietnamese leader for his invitation to attend Vietnam's upcoming National Day celebrations and confirmed his participation in the event on September 2, marking the country's 80th year of independence.

He praised the occasion's historic importance, calling it a testament to Vietnam's unity, resilience, and determination in its struggle for independence.

Hun Sen also expressed admiration for Vietnam's achievements in economic development, social progress, and foreign policy under the Communist Party's leadership, saying he was confident the country would continue advancing toward its long-term national goals.

On regional and international issues, the two leaders exchanged views on topics of shared interest.

General Secretary To Lam emphasized the importance of resolving disputes through peaceful means in accordance with international law and reaffirmed ASEAN's central role in promoting regional and global peace, stability, and cooperation.
