Vietnam condemns dangerous escalations in Middle East conflict

Vietnam has expressed serious concern over rising tensions in the Middle East and condemns acts of dangerous escalation, the use of force, and violations of international law, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang made the statement in Hanoi on Friday in response to reporters’ questions about Vietnam’s reaction to the recent escalation in the region.

“Vietnam is deeply concerned about the current situation in the Middle East and strongly condemns acts of dangerous escalation, the use of force, violations of international law and the United Nations (UN) Charter, and infringements on national sovereignty,” she said.

Hang called on all relevant parties to exercise restraint, avoid further escalation, and resolve disputes through peaceful means.

She emphasized the need for strict adherence to international law, the UN Charter, and relevant UN resolutions, as well as respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations.

She also urged the parties involved to help create favorable conditions for ongoing peace negotiations, in the interest of security, peace, and stability in the region and around the world.

Earlier the same day, Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper submitted a query to the ministry regarding its stance on the situation, guidance for Vietnamese citizens in Iran and Israel, and plans for citizen protection in the affected areas.

In a recommendation released later, the ministry advised Vietnamese citizens to refrain from traveling to Israel and Iran at this time due to safety concerns.

Those currently in either country are urged to maintain regular contact, follow local regulations and guidance, and prepare plans to evacuate themselves and their belongings either to Vietnam or to a third country.
