Gov't agencies launch 'Protect Your Money' campaign
MANILA – Government agencies launched on Tuesday the "Protect Your Money" campaign which aims to help Filipinos make smarter financial decisions.
The refreshed campaign is a joint initiative of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Insurance Commission, Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation, and Securities and Exchange Commission.
It intends to help consumers understand their financial rights and how to seek help; explore savings, loans, investments, and digital transactions; and stay ahead of scams, fraud and financial pitfalls.
BSP Deputy Governor Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, chairperson of the Consumer Protection and Education Committee of the Financial Sector Forum, said that while technology has opened doors to a wide range of digital services, it also left windows open to risk.
"Scams have become more sophisticated and harder to detect. We must act swiftly and decisively to push back against fraud. We must come together to equip the public with the right information, tools, and timely guidance," she said.
"The revitalized Protect Your Money campaign rises to meet challenges. We relaunched this campaign in response to the rapidly evolving digital financial landscape. By strengthening awareness of our rights and responsibilities as financial consumers, we empower individuals to guard themselves against scammers and fraudsters.”
Puyat said materials will reach the public through digital platforms via social media, reels, short messaging blasts and automated teller machine screens, among others, to ensure widespread access and engagement. (PNA)
