Antique Hina Doll Festival 2014
Some 500 'Zashikibina' Hina Dolls from Former Residence of Mining Tycoon Denemon Ito in Iizuka, Fukuoka Prefecture, Having Cherry Blossom Viewing Party in Kyoto
Vintage hina dolls from the Kyushu region gathered in the Hyakudan Kaidan hall, a Tokyo government-designated cultural asset, at Meguro Gajoen to celebrate 'Hinamatsuri,' or Girls' Day, on March 3. This year's Hyakudan Hinamatsuri exhibition, the fifth of its kind, focuses on unique features of hina dolls, most of which are emperors, empresses, court ladies, ministers and court staff in the Heian Period (794-around 1190), from seven prefectures in the southwestern Japan region.
