Ishiba Leaves for Peru, Brazil

   Tokyo, Nov. 14 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba left for Peru and Brazil on Thursday to attend international conferences and hold bilateral talks with U.S. President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
   Ishiba is expected to meet with Xi in Lima, Peru, on Friday on the sidelines of a two-day summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum set to end on Saturday.
   At their first meeting since Ishiba took office last month, the Japanese and Chinese leaders are expected to agree to promote mutually beneficial strategic relations between the two countries.
   Ishiba plans to ask China to resume imports of Japanese fishery products at an early date following Beijing's recent agreement to ease its ban on such products. China imposed the ban last year in response to Japan's discharge into the ocean of tritium-containing treated water from the crippled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant.
   "I would like to have a frank exchange of views" with Xi, Ishiba told reporters at the prime minister's office before his departure.
