MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. still believes that Vice President Sara Duterte should not be impeached, the Palace on Tuesday.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin made the pronouncement when asked if the Iglesia ni Cristo’s (INC) peace rally on Monday had any effect on the President’s stance on  Duterte’s impeachment.

“The President’s position on the impeachment move in the House of Representatives has not changed,” Bersamin said in a statement.

This stems from Marcos’ previous admission that he told the House of Representatives not to file an impeachment complaint against Duterte even amid the widening rift between them.

Marcos pointed out that doing so would not benefit anyone as there were other issues the government would have to address and that the political feud within his administration was merely a “storm in a teacup.”

This particular statement is also what the INC claimed to be the foundation of its nationwide peace rally.

Its “National Rally for Peace” at the Quirino Grandstand alone on Monday was attended by an estimated 1.8 million members.
