MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has named Foreign Assistant Secretary Maria Elena Algabre as the country’s ambassador to Hungary with concurrent jurisdiction over Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Serbia.

On Tuesday, the Presidential Communications Office released a list of new appointees, which included Algabre who previously served as assistant secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Office of European Affairs.

She was the Philippine ambassador to Turkiye from 2021 to 2023. Marcos also designated Marie Charlotte Tang as the country’s nonresident envoy to Ethiopia, on top of her current post as ambassador to Kenya with concurrent jurisdiction over Congo, Malawi, Seychelles, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Comoros.

The President also named two undersecretaries of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development: Eduardo Robles Jr. and Henry Yap.

A retired Air Force general, Rene Diaz, was appointed assistant secretary of defense.
